Dr. Rayan Elkattah
Dr. Rayan Elkattah joins Dr. Iris Kerin Orbuch at ‘Iris Wings Sanctuary for Endometriosis Surgery & Wellness’ out of a shared commitment to providing compassionate, personalized care to every patient. Both Dr. Iris Kerin Orbuch, Founder of ‘Iris Wings’, and Dr Rayan Elkattah are dedicated to helping patients lead productive, joyful, and pain-free lives, with a particular passion for supporting teens, those in their 20’s and 30’s through menopausal years, on their healing journeys.
Meet Board Certified Dr. Rayan Elkattah, MD – joining Dr. Iris Kerin Orbuch in Los Angeles after a successful academic career at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, mentoring Residents and Fellows with a focus on Minimally Invasive Surgery and Excision of Endometriosis.

Dr Rayan Elkattah shares similar foundational roots of endometriosis excision training as Dr Kerin Orbuch, as both are disciples of Dr C. Y. Liu (one of the giants in the field of Endometriosis Excision). Dr Elkattah completed a formal fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga / Women’s Surgery Center and is an Expert Minimally Invasive Endometriosis Excision Surgeon.
Dr. Rayan Elkattah is a distinguished and compassionate physician specializing in Minimally Invasive Excision of Endometriosis. As an Assistant Professor of Clinical OB/GYN, Dr. Elkattah is dedicated to advancing the field through his commitment to patient care, education, and research. His expertise lies in utilizing cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques to provide effective and patient-centered treatments, significantly improving outcomes and recovery times for people with complex gynecological conditions. Dr. Elkattah laid down robust foundations in surgical care and outcome-based women’s healthcare specializing in the surgical treatment of endometriosis, pelvic pain, fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal uterine bleeding, and extending into female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeries. This has culminated in the safe and successful surgical care of over 3000 patients in the past 10 years.
Dr. Elkattah’s passion in gynecologic care stems from his early formative years in medical school. With an upbringing that fostered mutual respect, humility, and service to others and having seen how women’s healthcare was disenfranchised by traditional socio-cultural norms, his journey to supporting women in taking agency of their health began. With a background and an interest in pursuing medicine, his journey with a primary focus to empower and support women in taking agency of their health began. Dr. Elkattah is an experienced and active listener who believes in the fundamentals of informed decision–making. Dr. Elkattah’s approach to navigating gynecologic healthcare needs is a safe, inclusive, evidence-based and compassionate one with an in-tandem goal of supporting his patients reclaim their health and faith in the healing process.
Dr. Elkattah’s academic journey began at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, where he earned his medical degree. He further honed his expertise in Obstetrics and Gynecology at East Tennessee State University, followed by specialized training in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga / Women’s Surgery Center. These esteemed institutions provided Dr. Elkattah with a strong foundation in both clinical practice and surgical innovation, equipping him to excel in his field.
Renowned for his personalized approach to patient care, Dr. Elkattah ensures that each individual receives the highest quality of care tailored to their unique needs. His academic role allows him to mentor and inspire the next generation of physicians, contributing to the ongoing advancement of gynecologic surgery. He is actively involved in clinical research, focusing on the development and refinement of minimally invasive surgical techniques, with a goal of enhancing patient safety and treatment efficacy. In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Elkattah is a sought-after speaker and educator, regularly presenting at national and international conferences. His work continues to make a profound impact on the field of gynecology, earning him recognition as a leader in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Elkattah has received multiple accolades including the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award recognizing his humanism in medicine, and the National Faculty Award from ACOG for his role in educating and inspiring the next generation of OBGYN clinicians.
Dr Elkattah loves to be called Dr E. Outside of clinical practice, Dr. E is an avid traveler and enjoys culinary experiences from around the world with the Levantine cuisine being his favorite go-to comfort food. Ever since his son Jude was born, along with his wife Lara, they have explored over 7 countries together. He also enjoys motorcycle touring and has logged over 30k miles in the USA and abroad. Another way he unwinds is through gardening – specifically heirloom tomato cultivars and flowers. He enjoys guided meditation and reading Big History and Self-help books with Yuval Harari and Sam Harris as his favorite authors. He enjoys several sports including basketball, ping-pong, and has also just recently gotten into rowing and is loving it!

Lisa Stern
Lisa Stern is a physician assistant who specializes in robotic gynecologic surgery. She has worked with Dr. Iris Kerin Orbuch and Dr. Steven Vasilev for over eight years and brings her skill set to treating endometriosis patients. Lisa loves helping those with endometriosis so much because the treatment is life-changing. Lisa is an instrumental part of Dr Kerin Orbuch’s team both in the office and the operating room. Lisa approaches patients in a multi disciplinary fashion, incorporating integrative medicine and combining eastern & western medicine approaches in helping her patients heal and getting them on the road to recovery. Her motto, like that of Dr Kerin Orbuch, is ‘one surgery done right’.
Lisa has a background in gynecologic oncologic robotic surgery and orthopedic surgery with over 10 years working as a physician assistant while working in medicine for 20 years.
She received a BA in psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Southern California.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and two dogs. Her hobbies include reading, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Lisa loves her career and feels honored to treat women in such a unique area of expertise.
